The people who manage our electrical grid are annoying. They think that everybody needs maximum energy all the time. They have contracts with big industrial energy users who are prepared to reduce their electricity use but those resources are basically never activated. They think that people don't care how our energy grid works. They're wrong. Don't you think??
We've been practicing peakbusting together and now we're approaching the hottest part of the summer. We anticipate we're near the summer's annual peak - the very highest energy use day. The annual peak is significant because that one hour of highest energy use is used to set our electric rates.
We want to show the energy grid managers that we can build a better energy system that actually works for all of us. One that doesn't rely on dirty fossil fuel peaker plants or the expectations of unlimited consumption.
So let's act!! We can change this system - and have some fun while we do it. Here are some of the actions we're talking about:
Hosting a potluck with a few friends at one house to reduce our energy use
Hosting a small action at your nearest peaker plant
Showing big box stores how they can reduce their energy use
Anything that brings people together for peakbusting!
Come to this meeting to get inspired, get support, nail down your plans, or join a friend’s plan! RSVP here for the zoom:
