Structure:

Our campaign is made of affinity groups: small groups of close friends and trusting comrades who have a commitment to taking or supporting direct action together. Affinity groups can plan actions together and take part in No Coal No Gas events. We also have working groups: behind the scenes project teams that work across the campaign to plan and assess strategy, assist with internal and external communications, monitor structure and feedback, and support onboarding and affinity group work.

Every month, we hold a Campaign Mass Call where everyone in our network is invited to come together, share and celebrate what we’ve been working on, and build community. We share ideas and build for future actions and strategy. You can register for the next mass call on our events page

Each Friday, we hold an online Coordinating Space at 1pm. Anyone from an affinity group, working group, or individual interested in becoming involved more deeply in the campaign is invited to attend! During coordinating meetings we report back about what’s happening across the campaign, support each other's work, and build next steps together. If you are interested in attending a coordinating meeting, we invite you to first attend a monthly mass call, campaign event, info session, or training to learn a bit about the campaign, and then email Leif at Leif@climatedisobedience.org for the zoom information!

Our campaign’s coordinator is Leif Taranta. Leif works to help with communication across the campaign and coordinate our work. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email them and they will help you get plugged in! (Leif@climatedisobedience.org

Our Campaign Goals:

1. Build unity and community

We know that it is a network of relationships that make resistance possible, and that community relationships will be increasingly necessary to collective survival as the climate crisis unfolds. We are dedicated to building a strong community of climate dissidents, bonded by love and trust, who have each other’s backs in this risky work.

2. Show what is possible

All too often, conversations around climate action are constrained by the concept of “political feasibility,” instead of being guided by moral necessity. As the crisis unfolds, we know that governments and corporations are not here to save us, and that those in power are consistently enacting worldwide injustice. In response, we commit to taking moral action to do what must be done to resist fossil fuels. We hope to show that collective resistance and a Just Transition are both necessary and possible.

3. Shut down the Merrimack Generating Station

We aim to shut down the last coal-fired power plant in New England that doesn’t already have a shutdown date. By using creative, nonviolent conflict, we will unmask the violence happening in Bow and around the world. We will build a network of climate dissidents capable of ending coal, gas, and other destructive industries in our region. We will also build solidarity with intersecting struggles against fossil fuel extractivism, white supremacy, patriarchy, and capitalism.
